Washington, DC — The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) and the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) have released Quality Control Guidelines for the Application of Asphalt Shingle Roof Systems. The booklet is intended to provide guidance, based on technical knowledge from experienced asphalt shingle manufacturers and installers, for the on-site evaluation of asphalt shingle roof system applications.
The booklet provides visual examination evaluation criteria for a roof substrate surface, underlayment, drip edge, fasteners, asphalt shingles and flashings.
Quality Control Guidelines for the Application of Asphalt Shingle Roof Systems is $10 for ARMA and NRCA members and $20 for nonmembers.
ARMA is a trade association representing the majority of North America’s asphalt roofing manufacturing companies plus their raw material suppliers. Information ARMA gathers on modern asphalt roofing materials and practices is provided to building and code officials as well as regulatory agencies and allied trade groups. ARMA’s mission is to promote and further the sale and use of bituminous-based roofing products; defend and protect the asphalt roofing industry from actions that may restrict the sale of certain bituminous-based roofing products; provide a forum to coordinate activities that would benefit from group attention; provide liaison with others having an influence on the industry; serve as a voice for the industry, presenting collective positions on issues of concern; and maintain a strong and active membership.
NRCA is one of the construction industry’s most respected trade associations and the voice and leading authority in the roofing industry for information, education, technology and advocacy.
