RAV Coalition Releases White Paper on Roof Ventilation

[Washington, DC]  -- The Roof Assembly Ventilation Coalition (RAVC) has released a white paper, "Debate Over Sealed Attics vs. Ventilation Intensifies Amid Calls for More Scrutiny."

The white paper discusses the history of the debate between sealed attic proponents verses the ventilated attic proponents. Topics include complexities of steep-slope roof design, moisture control, ice dam concerns, impact of varying climatic conditions, heat build-up, indoor air quality, and proper ventilation ratios.

The paper is available for download by clicking here.

The white paper was developed in response to the building community's call for additional research, environmental analysis and field demonstrations to learn if unvented attics are a suitable and safe design alternative to traditional ventilation.
