RICHARD A. NOWAK ASSUMES ARMA PRESIDENCY

[Washington, DC]– The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association [ARMA] announces that Richard A. Nowak, President & COO, ElkCorp, Dallas, TX, has assumed the presidency of the 89-year-old Association. Nowak, initially elected vice president and installed in November 2003, also previously served as secretary-treasurer, and has been a leading force in the development of the new ARMA strategic plan. He now ascends to the top leadership position, effective immediately.

Nowak succeeds as president to fill the unexpired term created by the departure of former ARMA president Gregory Perkins. Nowak will serve for the remainder of the two year period 2003-2005. Nowak also serves on the ARMA Executive Committee and the ARMA Board of Directors.

In a related development, ARMA executive committee member Robert B. Tafaro, Senior Vice President/General Manager, Roofing Systems Sales, GAF Materials Corporation, Wayne, NJ, has been appointed by the ARMA Executive Committee to serve completing the term of the vice president position formerly held by Nowak.

Sheree L. Bargabos, President, Exterior Systems Business, Owens Corning, Toledo, OH, continues as ARMA secretary-treasurer after being elected by the ARMA Board of Directors in November 2003.

The next general election for ARMA will be during the Fall Board of Directors meeting in November 2005.
